FOOTBALL AND CHEERLEADING REUNION: SEPTEMBER 5
Please join fellow UA football players, coaches, managers and cheerleaders to celebrate one of Ohio’s most successful athletic programs and to welcome our new coach and era of UA football.

Festivities will take place prior to the UA’s second home game on Friday, September 5 at 5:00 pm in a reserved area outside the south end of the Stadium. There will be a short program where guests will have an opportunity to meet and hear from our new head coach, Joel Cutler.

The program will provide an opportunity for fellowship and to pay tribute to a former UA player and long-time coach Dan Dupler, who passed away in 2012.

Tickets are $15.00 per person and include food from Schmidt’s Sausage Haus and a ticket to the game.

Please RSVP by August 22 to reserve your tickets at info@uafootballexcellence.org

Read more information here.

The UA Rotary Fitness Center under Moorehead Stadium, used by athletes in all sports, is in desperate need of repair. The 2014 football reunion—the second in 89 years—is an opportunity for you to pay it forward. The Football Reunion committee has already raised $25,000 toward the $75,000 goal. A very special thanks to Joe Berwanger, Class of ’56, for his lead gift.

If you would like to donate to ensure that the Tradition of Excellence continues at Upper Arlington, please visit our Facebook Page at or call Mark Erickson at 614.388.9772.

REMEMBERING COACH MARV MOOREHEAD

Coach Moorehead and players from the 1968State Championship Golden Bear Football Team.

From 1956 - 1970, Marv Moorehead turned Upper Arlington into the top football program in Ohio. His last six teams' records were 57-1 (the only loss to the #1 team); ranked in the top 5 in Ohio each year in Division I; and won 3 consecutive State Championships before retiring at age 39.

More important to Coach Moorehead than wins and losses, was transforming his players to become "better boys." Psychologists insist a boy cannot become a man without a mentor who teaches him how to become a man.

Coach Moorehead mentored hundreds of impressionable young men teaching them Life's lessons helping to form their "moral compass" to become better boys.

Tom Morgan, UAHS Class of 1967, has compiled several of Coach Moorehead's lessons and inspirational messages into one document.
